Questions
Answered straight. If something does not exist yet, it says so, without "coming soon".
How do I get into the beta?
You need an invite code – ask for one in the chat. Give your Telegram nickname when you ask: a code belongs to one person and is sent in a direct message, so without the nickname there is nobody to send it to. With the code you create the account yourself: an email, a password, and a minute later you have a network of your own to connect cameras to.
The code is not there for importance: the cloud hands every participant a separate network with an address space of its own, and there is a finite number of them. How that works – Getting started.
What does "beta" mean, and what does it cost me?
It means part of what is here is still being worked on, and we are asking you to live with that and tell us what gets in the way. You use it as you normally would. When something breaks it is fixed quickly: the cloud is run by the same people who answer in the chat.
The beta is a test bed rather than production: do not hang the one camera you actually depend on off it.
Do I have to buy new cameras?
No, not if the camera runs OpenIPC firmware: the agent lives inside it, and the camera's own settings can be driven from the app – Camera running OpenIPC.
An ordinary RTSP/ONVIF camera whose firmware cannot be changed can be connected too – a small computer goes next to it, and that machine is what joins the network.
What happens when the internet goes down?
Recording continues locally: to the camera's memory card, or to the disk of the machine running the agent. When the link comes back, the events and the recordings are uploaded.
The agent does not give up and needs no attention: it waits and retries by itself, for as long as it takes.
Who can watch my cameras?
You, and the people you gave access to by name and email. Taking access away is one button, and it disappears everywhere at once. The cameras' own passwords are never forwarded to anyone.
